Generator Saga Continued

Well, after replacing all of our fried electrical components, we gave the generator another go. We unplugged all electrical devices except for the surge protectors and hooked the generator up to the prewired house circuit board. As before, we got a massive surge through the house. The smell of ozone was very heavy. We discovered that most of the new surge protectors blew. There is something wrong in the wiring, either at the house or at the generator. Fortunately, we didn't lose any equipment and Office Max willingly replaced all the blown surge protectors.

Just for safety's sake, we will be using the generator only with extension cords. It works great that way. And although it is a bit inconvenient, it will do nicely. After the winter blackouts, we may change our minds. But that's the plan right now.
