Picture Perfect

This is a great time of year in the Pacific Northwest because the rhododendrons are in bloom. Here are some pics of the rhodies in the front yard.

Sad Ending

Shortly after we took the pictures of the baby eagle in the previous post, the baby eagle disappeared and the adult eagles abandoned the nest. Our guess is that the poor little guy fell from the nest. What a shame! Everyone on our block is saddened.

Eagle hatchling

A bald eagle pair lives in our neighborhood. They are beautiful and we see them everyday. Here is a picture of one. The male, we think.

This winter, they built a large nest across the street from our house. It took months and was fascinating to watch. We watched hopefully as the pair stayed in the nest for weeks alternating 24/7. Recently, they have not been as close to the nest and we thought the eggs may have gone bad. But today, we saw a hatchling hopping around in the nest. If you look closely at the grainy picture below you can see the little one's head poking out of the top of the nest. Way cool.

Here, in the next two pictures, the little guy has his back to us.

And here he's being fed by his parents.

New Living Room Carpet

Ever since we moved into Bywater I have wanted to get rid of the green carpet in the living room. It took three years, but we finally made the change. Here is the old green carpet.

Many people liked the green. They found it soothing. But, it appeared outdated and didn't go with any of our furniture. So, we replaced it with a pretty tan, laid down a large rug, put out some pillows and throws to pick up the red border and voila!. A new room. Now we don't have to buy new furniture. It is much cozier and we love it.

This is Cathy's favorite spot in the house now.
